About Hand Dyed Yarn
Hand dyed yarn is an experience all its own to work with. Indie dyers can play with how we apply the elements of dye, water, and heat to the fiber to develop colors with depth, tonal shifts, or even variegation that lets every stitch pop with color.
Because of the handmade process, each hank of yarn is one of a kind. Please expect some variation from skein to skein, even from the same dye lot. This is what makes hand dyed yarn so wonderfully unique!
A note on dyelots and variation between skeins: If making a project that requires multiple skeins of the same color yarn, it is recommended to alternate skeins every other row of knitting to minimize any differences between skeins. Please be sure to purchase all the yarn you need for your project in one order. My typical dyelots are 8-12 skeins; I will always match dyelots when filling orders for multiple skeins of the same color. However, if you don’t order all you need at once, I can’t guarantee that I will have more of the same dyelot available later should you need more yarn.
All Copper Sheep yarn and fiber is hand dyed by me in small batches in my home studio in West Virginia. My merino wool is exclusively ethically-sourced mulesing-free yarn. All the yarn I sell is spun at a mill that supports ethical farming and sustainable practices.
Though I do my best to take accurate photos, color and intensity of the yarn may vary with your monitor settings. Be assured that what you receive will be gorgeous and made by human hands just for you!
